27-28.1.09 Magenta Mossy Cowl
(Sorry for the bad pictures - this was very hard to photograph...)
The original MOSSY COWL is a design by KATIE HIMMELBERG (free pattern on Knitting Daily), but it uses a Naturally Mist 1-ply Yarn. Since I am allergic to natural yarn, I used 3 x 100gr (+/- 100m) skeins of acrylic Vitalgo Polo (Shade ~512), made in Romania. I am not sure I am not allergic to this specific one too (apparently it's not uncommon). Anyway, to fit the form to the new yarn, I made some changes:
Instead of the last part:
"Rep FPtr rnd 2 more times—3 tr rnds completed. Work FPdc rnd 5 times, then work FPtr rnd 3 times, then work FPdc rnd 5 more times. Fasten off and weave in ends."
I did:
"Rep FPtr rnd 2 more times—3 tr rnds completed. Work FPdc rnd 5 times, then work FPqdr rnd 3 times, then work FPtr rnd 3 more times. Fasten off and weave in ends."
(qdr=quadruple)
An aposteriori remark is that I did all the dc with entering the back loops only.

11.1.09 Autumn's Glory, designed by Huib Petersen
Automn's Glory necklace was designed by one of the most talented bead artists I have ever known: Huib Petersen.
I admire his detailed beaded nature scenes and amazed by his compositions. From all the meticulous details, imitating beautiful Nature scenes, his pieces makes me feel life, spring and joy. In other word,

HAPPINESS
One of the best pictures to demonstrate Huib's love to bead, nature and what he is doing, is here. Look at the sea creatures on his desk :-) It looks to me as if it was taken from a splendid dream.
I deciphered the necklace from this picture and worked on it for a week. I would absolutely recommend you to attend one of his workshops. I think you will be very privileged if you can, I wish I would.
Huib also provides kits, so you can contact him here.
Thank you Huib for inspiring me and kindly allowing me to put these pictures on my blog!
Varda was right in that sense she thinks I should have located the leaves a bit differently for purpose of luminosity balance (exchange the yellow and brown leaves or put the yellow in the middle, then the peach and last the brown one). I'll try to recall that for future works.

13.1.09 Crochet Bouquet "Oval Center Rose"
"Crochet Bouquet" p.28-29.
It needs some decoration... I placed a beaded flower in the middle - but I think I am going to put there something less attracting, smaller or less dense??!
nothing to do with my first trial a month ago...

11.1.09 Crochet Bouquet "Shamrock"
Right side
Wrong side
The Shamerock instructions appear in the "Crochet Bouquet" book, p.118-119.
Thank you Suzann for all your help and clear instructions for how to put the shamrock together.
I feel I want to make another one in order to practice and make the connections better then I did this time (also try to make the tension in each leaflet hole more even).

Happy new year 2009 my friends!
A trial to crochet a bead ( a 1.00 mm hook and 8 vog cotton thread) only that mistakenly I used single crochet instead of slip stitch. It was really hard and I wonder if it should be done this way.
I used Andrea Hoffstadt's instructions from this link or this one, and the pattern from here.
I need to try again with slip stitch only, but is it normal to be so hard to crochet?
Thank you Malie for all your tremendous help, the links, pictures and all your good willing to help me. I really appreciate that.
My friends and readers, may you have a wonderful and happy new year 2009!
Love,
Judith
